Lockport bested Lincoln-Way West Warriors Varsity in a high-scoring affair, 12-7.
Lincoln-Way West Warriors Varsity opened up scoring in the second inning, when Luke Swallow grounded out, scoring two runs.
Lockport pulled away for good with four runs in the third inning. In the third Victor Izquierdo doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run and Griffin Brown homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring three runs.
Lockport scored four runs in the fifth inning. The offensive firepower by Lockport was led by Brown, Ryan Moerman, and Matt Merk, all driving in runs in the inning.
Michael Hughes was on the pitcher’s mound for Lockport. The bulldog lasted two and a third innings, allowing two hits and four runs while striking out one.
Reagan King toed the rubber for Lincoln-Way West Warriors Varsity. The lefthander went two and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs on four hits and striking out four. Griffin LaMarche, Aidan Fitzpatrick, Nikolai Nawracaj, and Tyler Pritchard each entered the game as relief, throwing one inning, one inning, one inning, and one-third of an inning respectively.
Lockport smacked four home runs on the day. Brown went deep in the second, third, and fifth innings. Riley Pfeiffer went for the long ball in the fourth inning.
